Preferential rates apply only to people living in Paris and in the Paris region. The reductions given to seniors and disabled people are subsidized by local and regional authorities who reimburse the different transport companies for the reductions they have given to passengers. So they cannot extend these advantages to all tourists who are seniors and/or disabled people.

However, preferential rates also apply to:
- Children under 4 years (free);
- Children under 10 years (half price);
- Large families (half price with the blue large family card);
- Pupils, students, apprentices (reduction: on annual fare with the annual travel pass ‘imagine R’ or ‘Ticket Jeunes Week-end’);
- Groups of at least 10 young people under 16 years of age, or group of at least 10 pupils of secondary school and high school with at least a teacher (half price for Tickets t+ or ‘group’ tickets);
- Young people under 26 years of age entering the labour market (using the ‘chèque mobilité’).
