Created in 1998, the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Information, research and exhibition centre for urbanism and architecture in Paris and the Paris region, is a unique place where the development of the city and its architectural achievements are open to all.

At a time when urban matters are at the heart of current affairs, it is essential that this topic is presented in a way which is educational, attractive and generates discussion, allowing citizens to put themselves at the heart of architectural and urban creation.
The main missions of the Pavillon de l’Arsenal are to explain the city’s “architecture”, how it has built up through the centuries, its current condition and how it could develop, as well as to present to other countries the urban know-how of the City of Paris and the master-builders that work here.
On the ground floor, there is a recently redesigned permanent exhibition titled “Paris, visite guidée: la ville, histoires et actualités” (Paris, guided visit: the city, history and current events). It retraces how the city has developed through the centuries, its current state and its prospects for development on different scales, with models including some of Paris measuring over 45 m², films, maps and photographs. Also on the ground floor, there is a bookshop specializing in architecture and urbanism.
On the first floor, large temporary exhibitions (three per year) offer a more thematic interpretation of Parisian architecture and urbanism.
The second floor continues the discovery of more urban museums. The current events gallery presents the results of competitions for the construction of accommodation and facilities and hosts foreign exhibitions following the reciprocal contributions of certain styles and the trends of international architecture.
Conferences and debates are regularly organized and a centre of digital resources dealing with Parisian 21st century architecture has just opened.
A research centre and a photographic library are open from Tuesday to Friday from 2pm to 6pm.
