El distintivo Tourisme & Handicap

A quality initiative for disabled people.

Logo-handicap-200-141
Within the framework of its policy in favour of accessibility to holidays and leisure for disabled people, the Secretary of State for Tourism has put in place a “Quality Initiative”, for the welcoming of disabled people, in partnership with tourism professionals and associations representing the world of disability.
This mission has been given to the association Tourisme & Handicaps, created on 28 February 2001.

AIMS OF THE NATIONAL LABEL:

- Provide reliable and objective information on accessibility and tourist facilities taking into account all types of disability.

- Develop a tourism offer that is adapted and integrated into the general offer.

- Give a competitive edge to tourism professionals adopting these initiatives.

The label “Tourisme & Handicap” may be given for one, two, three or four types of disability : physical, visual, hearing, mental.

Each disability is represented by a particular pictogram:

Physical disability

Icone-moteur-50-50
Visual disability

Icone-visuel-50-50
Hearing disability

Icone-auditif-50-50
Mental disability

Icone-mental-50-50

The label is attributed for a duration of five years, renewable by amendment after the standards for welcome and accessibility have been checked.

In Paris, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the Regional Tourist Board is working to introduce the label by raising the awareness of tourism service providers, and by supporting them in their actions to qualify for the label and by promoting sites with the label via their different channels of communication.
